Two Presidents-elect have met at the Annual ESAO Conference in Bologna in
2006.
Prof. Michael Lysaght (right), president elect of the International Federation
of Artificial Organs (IFAO) and Prof. Bart Meyns, at that time President-elect
of ESAO.
Michael Lysaght, who spent much of his professional life investigating
creative applications of biomaterials for artificial organs and held 26 patents
in this field, succumbed to metastatic bladder cancer on October 24, 2009.
ESAO commemorates with sadness the loss of this gifted engineer, teacher
and great personality.
