*The differentiation between low and high income countries is based on the Gross domestic product (GDP) per capita in purchasing power standards (PPS). The data for different European countries are published each year by Eurostat (European statistics administration). Based on these data, the countries previously categorized as “East European countries” as well as Greece and Portugal are assigned to belong now to the low income group.
