yESAO initiative 2020

yESAO members share their knowledge regarding 3D printing of a visor protector

Corona is currently changing our world. In times like these, safety for all and good ideas for dealing with the pandemic are of great interest. 3D printing can help people to avoid supply shortages in these difficult times. Regarding this, some yESAO members from the Charité in Berlin developed a 3D printing procedure of a visor for face protection. It has a small printing volume and superior wearing comfort because of flexible band around the whole head circumference. You can easily adjust the distance of the shield to your face as well as the tightness of the band. So far, the doctors we asked at Charité were quite happy with it. We used 600 µm PET- Foil with antifog and puncture 2 holes at each side with 20 mm distance with a perforator.

The STL file for printing the visor can be downloaded here.
